Symposium “Exploring the Future of E-mail, Privacy, and Cloud Computing at Ryerson.”

February 7th, 2011 by Jason

Dimitri and I are involved with this, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Online registration is now available for the Symposium “Exploring the Future of E-mail, Privacy, and Cloud Computing at Ryerson.” The Symposium is on February 24.

You can register online at: http://email.blog.ryerson.ca/?p=31

Speakers will include:

* Dr. Ann Cavoukian, Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario
* David Fraser, Canadian privacy lawyer with McInnes Cooper
* Jim Turk, Executive Director of the Canadian Association of University Teachers
* Representatives from Microsoft and Google

We encourage students, faculty, and staff to attend as the Symposium is part of a larger consultation process regarding the future of E-mail and Collaboration tools at Ryerson. The Symposium should be especially informative for anyone interested in evaluating the risks and benefits of outsourcing Ryerson’s E-mail and collaborative services.

The Symposium is being hosted by the Advisory Committee on Academic Computing and Computing and Communications Services in conjunction with Ryerson’s Privacy and Cyber Crime Institute.

Yours truly,

Dimitrios Androutsos, Chair, Advisory Committee on Academic Computing
Brian Lesser, Acting Director, Computing and Communications Services
