Yukari Seko is a Ph.D candidate in Communication and Culture Programme at York and Ryerson Universities. Yukari’s research interests include user-generated content on social media, identity practice online, multimodal self-expression, digital surveillance, and aesthetics of pain. Her dissertation attempts to theorize photographs of self-harm on Flickr as a form of aesthetic self-disclosure.
At the Edge Lab, she is part of the ongoing research project called “Voices from Digital Native” that interrogates digital milieu and habitus of young media users.
